El Segundo-based Prodege, the parent company of Swagbucks and other online consumer rewards services, announced May 10 it will acquire CotterWeb Enterprises Inc.

Minnesota-based CotterWeb does about $25 million in revenue annually operating InboxDollars.com and SendEarnings.com, along with other reward sites in Canada and the United Kingdom. The sites provide members gift cards for filling out surveys and watching videos.

Details of the deal were not released. But Chuck Davis, chief executive for Prodege said it will help the company broaden its offerings to include a “gig economy” site. The data can then turn around to be used for market research.

“This helps us diversify our member base,” he said. Cotterweb has about 35 employees.

Prodege already has a robust, consumer rewards portfolio including Swagbucks, which offers online shoppers points that can be redeemed for gift cards. The company works with 2,000 retailers including Kohl’s and Walmart.

With the addition of CotterWeb, Prodege will have access to more than 100 million registered users.
