Swagbucks, the web’s leading rewards program that has awarded its members more than $140 million in gift cards, is thrilled to have played a role in making one of its users, Eric Martin, a multi-millionaire.
The incredible story started when start-up online retailer Jet.com ran a “member-referral” campaign to promote pre-registrations to their shopping website. The Jet.com member that referred the most new members would win options for 100,000 shares of Jet.com stock. Eric Martin, an Internet industry outsider from Pennsylvania, saw the opportunity and signed up for the contest, leveraging Swagbucks to drive thousands of referrals and earning the grand prize.
In total, he spent $18,000 to drive 8,000+ referrals, which was enough to win the Jet.com contest. About half of that spend was advertising with Swagbucks, which drove a whopping 75 percent of his registrations.
This week, Walmart announced plans to purchase Jet.com for over $3 billion, which means a big payday for Martin, a payday he acknowledges Swagbucks helped him achieve. Martin shared, “Swagbucks helped me reach the right people at the right time, so that I could win Jet’s competition.”
Swagbucks CEO, Chuck Davis is ecstatic to see a Swagbucks user hit such an incredible jackpot. “This is the kind of story that we absolutely love at Swagbucks — helping people realize their dreams. We’re thrilled to have played a role in an event that, while unique, illustrates the power of our advertising platform.” Davis continued, “Swagbucks was about three times more effective in producing results for Eric vs. the other sites where he bought online advertising, and his successful campaign demonstrates just how engaged our members are.”
Advertisers use Swagbucks to reach more than 19 million highly-engaged members, who consistently return to the site and Swagbucks mobile apps to reap valuable rewards for everyday activities while having some fun and entertainment along the way.
