For Father's Day, give dad some of your time

Even though consumers are expected to spend a record $126 on average for the holiday, tools, ties and techy gadgets don’t top Dad’s wish list.

 According to a survey by SwagBucks, an online retail rewards program, a majority of the 6,300 dads they polled for their Father’s Day survey said spending time with family trumped tangible gifts.

“We were fascinated to learn that while gift cards and tech gadgets topped a lot wish lists, a whopping 84 percent of dads just want quality time with their family this Father’s Day,” said Sarah Aibel, consumer expert at Swagbucks.

The same survey found more than half of all fathers are fairly frugal. If you do go the gift route, they prefer you spend less than $50, but again, time together may be more than enough.
