They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, but what about being stuck at home with your spouse or significant other 24/7 for weeks during a pandemic? We recently surveyed 1,287 Americans to gain insight into how COVID-19 has impacted their relationships and other aspects of their day-to-day lives.

Of those sheltering at home with a spouse or SO, 69% consider their relationship to be “about the same” as prior to COVID-19, with most of the balance perceiving their relationship as “stronger” (24%). Just 7% feel their romantic relationship has been tenser in recent weeks.

Despite statewide regulations put in place weeks ago that provided a shift in daily routines, media coverage has shown that not everyone is following these orders.  By generation, our Gen Z and Millennial respondents are most apt to know someone who has defied Stay-At-Home orders (31-32%) and/or know someone who has refused to social distance (23-26%).

Are those who are younger and still building their careers seeing their jobs impacted by the pandemic? Appears likely, as Gen Z is the generation most likely to know someone who lost their job due to COVID-19 (50%), followed closely by Millennials (48%).

Have these unprecedented times caused consumers to reassess their financial & purchase priorities? We explore this topic here!
