New Survey Also Reveals That Societal Forces–not Parents– Put the Most Pressure on Americans to Celebrate Valentine’s Day!

LOS ANGELES (PRWEB) FEBRUARY 07, 2019

Would you consider going on a blind date on Valentine’s Day? A new survey from Swagbucks, a rewards- and loyalty-program company operated by Prodege, LLC, found that 43 percent of Americans would consider it. And 28 percent would be willing to spend the holiday speed dating. The national survey of 2,000 U.S. adults was conducted online by Prodege in January 2019.

“Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to spend quality time with your significant other,” said Chuck Davis, CEO and Chairman of Prodege, LLC. “Whether you’re planning for a romantic getaway or a nice dinner, Swagbucks is your partner to make sure you’re getting the best deals on everything you purchase online.”

Valentine’s Day Do’s and Don’ts

Valentine’s Day can be a pretty romantic holiday, but is it romantic enough for a proposal?

More than a third of Americans (36 percent) — including 44 percent of men — would consider proposing marriage on Valentine’s Day. However, only 39 percent of Americans would want to be proposed to on Valentine’s Day.

As for Valentine’s Day dating:

  • Almost 1 in 10 Americans, including 14 percent of men and 4 percent of women, have had a one-night stand on Valentine’s Day
  • 5 percent of men and 3 percent of women have used a dating app to find a date on Valentine’s Day
  • Very few Americans have broken up with a significant other (5 percent) or been broken up with (6 percent) on Valentine’s Day

Not All Americans in Love With Valentine’s Day

However, not all Americans love Valentine’s Day: Almost 1 in 3 (31 percent) would be happy if the holiday no longer existed. Furthermore, most of the pressure Americans feel to participate in Valentine’s Day is cultural (39 percent) rather than familial (10 percent).

Of those Americans who will be celebrating, most plan to keep their Valentine’s Day plans to themselves — 54 percent say they will not be posting on social media. They would, however, be slightly more willing to share their dates on social media if a brand sponsored their date (56 percent).

Valentine’s Day celebrators can use Swagbucks Local to find deals and cash back on local restaurant outings across the U.S. Shoppers can also earn Swagbucks on all their purchases from a wide selection of popular retailers through the Swagbucks site or by downloading the SwagButton.
