With Memorial Day cookouts serving as the unofficial kick-off of summer, our members are ready for warm weather and entertaining!  We asked our consumers how they plan to navigate a summer post-COVID, and what they plan to purchase to make the upcoming months even more memorable.

To kick off a summer that will likely be more social than last year, three-in-ten plan to buy a new outfit for social gatherings. Another 40% will possibly buy a new outfit if they find something they like at the right price, with the remaining planning to wear what they already have in their closet. After all, many clothing options will feel like new again after a year of loungewear!

Additionally, one-in-four plan to take their BBQs to the next level by purchasing items for outdoor entertaining, and 19% will be looking to buy a new grill. Slightly fewer look to buy a new bathing suit and/or cards/board games for entertaining guests this summer (16%).

While the future is starting to look optimistic, around three-quarters of our consumers will exercise at least a bit of caution going into this year’s Memorial Day and Summer months because of COVID-19. If you plan to attend a BBQ: don’t forget your mask as 50% will only participate in a Memorial Day cookout if the guests wear masks except when eating and drinking.

Looking to promote your upcoming summer items to a targeted list of consumers? We’d love to help!
