
From a replica of the Barbie Dreamhouse being listed on Airbnb to retro toys resurfacing in McDonald’s Happy Meals, old school toys appear to be making a comeback.
We reached out to 1,100 of our members to find out which throwback characters and games they’d like to see modernized and which fantasy settings they wish they could visit.
First off, we learned that over six-in-ten indicated they’ve kept some childhood toys. Nostalgia surfaced as the top reason for doing so (74%), followed by wanting to pass along their childhood relics to a child or grandchild (50%).
The most appealing fantasy setting to visit? Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. Secondarily, at least three-in-ten wish it was possible to become physically immersed into the world of Hogwart’s (36%) and/or the Death Star (30%, skewed male).
When thinking back to iconic board games, the top three games our respondents crave a modern interpretation of are well-known classics.
As for beloved toy personalities, Mr. Potato and He-Man are two characters those surveyed would like to see get a modern-day refresh (23-25%). For the He-Man fans out there, here’s some good news!
