Amazon Prime Day, a much anticipated two-day online shopping event, is anticipated to return this summer! Curious as to whether our consumers are planning to scout the deals and make purchases, we recently surveyed 1,201 of our Amazon Prime members.

In the past, seven-in-ten have previously made a Prime Day purchase; with last year being the first for 22%! Hot ticket items purchased previously have included Amazon devices, clothing/shoes/jewelry, electronics and home & kitchen products.

But do Prime Day shoppers typically know what they are looking for? Interestingly, they are divided between approaching Prime Day with specific items in mind (51%) and merely searching deals until they found something they wanted (49%).

After being told that Prime Day is happening in the next two to three months, half of the Prime Members surveyed are planning to make a purchase. Nearly all of those remaining (49%) say that it depends on whether there’s a good deal on something they want.

Will shoppers spend the same in comparison to last year? Three-quarters of past Prime Day purchasers are likely to have the same average order value as last year, while another 20% plan to spend more than before

If our consumers are sharing a bank account, their partners better watch out! Only 28% plan to set a budget; 72% say “it depends on the deals.”

While they may not be setting a budget in stone, nearly half of those likely to make a Prime Day buy anticipate spending $150+ (44%), with another 28% likely to spend $100-$149.

For the upcoming Prime Day event, our consumers say home & kitchen (44%), clothing, shoes, & jewelry (43%), and electronics (38%) are the most eagerly anticipated items to score deals on.

Additionally, a subset of our members indicate they’ll be keeping their eyes out for deals from competing retailers. Some of those retailers are partners of ours through our cash back offering including, Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Kohl’s, and Macy’s!

With Prime Day looking to be a popular event again this year, you won’t want to miss out! Reach out to b2bmarketing@prodege.com to learn how you can secure placements on our online shopping sites for our consumers who are ready to buy!
