Back in the summer, we examined how workers are faring remotely. Now that we’re several months into the pandemic, we recently revisited this research among Americans aged 18+ who work at a job requiring regular use of a computer.
Of those who are currently working remotely but were working at an office pre-pandemic, 66% will not feel comfortable returning to their office until after a vaccine is widely available. Notably, this sentiment is more pronounced among females (71% vs. 60% of males).

When it’s deemed safe to return to their offices, nearly two-thirds would either prefer to spend one or two days a week at their workplace (34%) or work remotely 100% of the time (30%). Just 11% express interest in working a full work week at the office. In addition to being less eager to return to an office, females are more apt than males to prefer rarely or never working from their office post-vaccine (69% vs. 55% of males).
