A new consumer trend report from Drizly, an alcohol e-commerce and delivery company, is giving insight into current consumer drinking and purchasing trends, including Generation Z’s drinking preferences, the state of home bars post-pandemic and more providing potential insights into both what spirits retailers should stock and what accessories and barware pieces may be popular this year.

Looking at liquor popularity for 2022 over 2021, 17 percent of respondents predicted that they will be reaching for more tequila this year, a full 7 percentage points higher than those that said they would buy more American whiskey, a previous leader in the spirits category. Tequila was the second most popular spirit choice overall, lagging just 1 percent behind vodka.

This year’s consumer trend report from Drizly was based on results from a Prodege survey conducted among a sample of 1,004 U.S. adults, aged 21 and older who have purchased alcohol in the past 90 days.
